  1. A Cancerian, Lady Diana Spencer was born on
  2. 1st July 1961 at Park House on the
  3. Sandringham estate(close to the Royal
  4. Family's home in Norfolk) in the same room
  5. in which her mother had been born in 1936. 
  6. Her father was Viscount Althorp(heir to the
  7. 7th Earl Spencer) aged 37 and her mother,the
  8. Vicountess,aged 25 was formerly the Hon.
  9. Francis Roche(youngest daughter of Lord and
  10. Lady Fermoy).
  11. She is a descendant of Charles II and 
  12. James II,the only sovereigns from whom 
  13. Prince Charles is not descended.
  14. The third of four children,she spent her 
  15. childhood at Park House with a nannie-
  16. Judith Parnell-and later a governess-
  17. Gertrude Allen.
  18. Her parents separated in 1967 and were 
  19. divorced in 1969.Although the custody of 
  20. the children was disputed it was given to
  21. the father.

  23. In 1971,aged 10,she went as a boarder to
  24. Riddlesworth Hall,a Prep.school in Norfolk.
  25. In 1973 she went to West Heath School near
  26. Sevenoaks in Kent.
  27. In 1978 she went to the Institut Alpin 
  28. Videmanette,a finishing school at Chateau
  29. d'Oex close to Gstaad in Switzerland,where
  30. she stayed for only one term.
  31. In September 1979 she started work at the
  32. Young England Kindergarten in the church 
  33. hall in Pimlico.

  35. Invited by the Queen,in August 1979,Diana
  36. went to Balmoral and,in early 1980,to 
  37. Sandringham as a companion to Prince
  38. Andrew.But no romance ensued.Then three 
  39. further invitations were issued.The first,
  40. by Prince Charles,to watch a polo match,
  41. the second,by Prince Philip,to join the 
  42. Royal Family on the Royal Yacht for Cowes
  43. week in August and the third,by the Queen,to 
  44. join them for the Highland Games at Braemar
  45. where she was photographed by the Press
  46. watching Charles fishing in the Dee.On 8th
  47. September 1980,for the first time,her name 
  48. and a photograph appeared in the national
  49. press and her battle with the Media began.
  50. Lady Diana Spencer's betrothal to the Prince
  51. of Wales was announced on 24th February 1981
  52. and when she married Prince Charles at St.
  53. Paul's cathedral on 29th.July 1981 she was
  54. the first English bride of a royal heir
  55. since 1659.

  57. There are two children of the marriage-
  58. William.Born June 21st.1982 and
  59. Harry.Born September 15th.1984.

  61. After the marriage Princess Di,as she was
  62. popularly known,became Patron and President
  63. of numerous charities and causes(including
  64. Aids and the movement to outlaw landmines. 
  65. Princess Diana died in Pitie Salpetriere
  66. Hospital following a car accident in a Paris 
  67. underpass.Killed in the same incident were
  68. her friend Dodi Fayed and the car's driver
  69. Henri Paul.
